How much does a website cost in India in 2026?
Why two quotes for "a website" can differ ten times over, the rough ranges you will see in the market, and the questions that get you an honest quote.
Ask five agencies what a website costs and you may get five very different numbers. That is not always because someone is overcharging. "A website" can mean anything from a single page to a full online store with a custom dashboard.
Here is how to understand what you are paying for, and how to get a quote you can compare.
What actually changes the price
- Number of pages and templates. Five pages that share one layout cost less than twenty pages with different layouts.
- Design approach. A ready made theme with your colours is quicker than a design made from scratch for your brand.
- Content. Writing good copy and sourcing photos is real work. If the agency writes everything, expect to pay for it.
- Features. Online payments, bookings, a customer login, multiple languages or connections to your CRM all add time.
- Speed and SEO setup. A site built to load fast and rank well takes more care than one that only looks good in a screenshot.
Rough ranges you will see quoted in India
These are broad market ranges, not our price list. They are here to help you judge whether a quote is in a sensible zone.
- Simple template site (a few pages, ready theme, your content): roughly ₹15,000 to ₹40,000.
- Custom business website (planned, written and designed for you): roughly ₹50,000 to ₹2,00,000.
- Online store on Shopify or WooCommerce: roughly ₹75,000 to ₹5,00,000 depending on catalogue size and custom features.
- Custom web application such as a portal or booking system: usually several lakhs, depending on scope.
On top of the build, budget for yearly costs: domain, hosting, paid plugins or apps, and maintenance.
Questions to ask before you compare quotes
- Who writes the content, and is it included?
- Will the domain, hosting and code be in my name?
- How fast will the site load on a phone, and how will you test it?
- What SEO setup is included?
- What happens after launch if something breaks?
- Can my team edit text and images without calling you?
If two quotes answer these questions the same way, you can compare them fairly. If one is much cheaper, check which of these it leaves out.
The cheapest website can be the most expensive
A site that loads slowly, does not rank and brings no enquiries costs you every month in lost customers. A website should be judged by the work it brings in, not only by the invoice.
